This weekend the wolpakradio gang hosted an expectacular conjunto event with opening act "Martillo" and headline "Leo Nunez y los Cuatro
Aces".
The night starts with the usual BB Wolf's fiesta atmosphere with people getting ready and the stage being set up. Music plays in the background and the bar scene slowly climates to the main event. Leo Nunez from "Leo y los cuatro aces" and company setup stage with lights , sound, every other detail to ensure a great show.
As the clock turns to 8 the music thunders on the stage with conjunto. The fans dance and drink enjoying the cold beers and special drinks. People of all ages ,young and not so young share the love for conjunto and move their body to Martillo's opening song "Rosalito" Juan Hernandez from Martillo levels the accordion , A.B Garcia smokes the bajo sexto, and our Dj Lobo from Wolfpakradio jams the drum. By now halfway into Martillo set, the dance is packed and the laughs and conversation can be heard with occasional Gritos and whistles. Martillo is done now, and people rest and prepare for Leo y los cuatro aces. Dj Lobo is now on stage doing his thing, playing beat to beat of the best tejano y conjunto music. Aready you can feel the anticipation of the people anxious to let loose and jam to Leos Conjunto music. The music stops and all the crowd is quiet . Djlobo gets on the mic and Thanks all the crowd for joining our event, thanks bbwolf's for the oppurtinty to host this event "And now Live On Stage LEO Y LOS CUATRO AAACCESS" The crowd roars, cheers and claps and invade the dance floor , and the music starts . "Serenata Huasteca" is the first song with leo smashing the drums, Auturo Espinoza squizzing the accordion and singing and henry ayala on bass.
One more time the fans pack the dance floor and the crowd dances to the beat. "Puro P%^$ Conjunto" is yelled from the back of the Crowd and once more Gritos and Whistles. Time passes by as if minutes were seconds as if the music hypnotizes the crowd. A little pass midnight already and the band stops and takes the opportunity to give a shout out to the crowd at BB Wolf's. The music came to a halt and Arturo (vocalist for Leo y los cuatro aces) calls to the crowd "Hey , you all ready for that switcharoo " He looks out to the crowd and motions to the boys . Jose Anciria grabs the bajo sexto(bass), Jonathon takes the accordion and Little Leo Nunez gets on the drums . The visitors as I call them, help Leo y Los Aces jam for a couple songs. The crowd never ceases to rest.
As closing time nears, the people don't want to stop dancing and the band doesn't want to stop playing. The songs plays one after the other deafening the whole place , too loud to even hear people around you. "One last song" says DJ Lobo "This one's for you Johnny"( referring to his recently lost friend Johnny "El Brujo"Cruz ) and calls up Munchy (Johnny's nephew) on the bajo, Freddy Q on the bass, Little Leo on the drums and he keeps the mic. The music starts playing to the beat of "Folsom Prison Blues" and EVERYBODY gets off their seats to dance and cheer.
The song ends and so dooes the night, the crowd clears, each leaving exhausted with excitement. Dj Lobo and the bands talk about old times with laughs and smiles galore. You can hear parties talk about tonight's dance as they exit. At the door John and Lucy Alaniz send off people thanking them for joining in tonights event.
