JAMMIN' JAKE

Jammin' Jake's Bio: Music runs in my family on my dad's mother's side we had a couple cousins who played with mazz back in the "Mazz" / "The Force" days guess you could say the original Mazz Band.

On My Mother's side her Father Robert Vallejo played The Guitar & Sang for his Church for about 30yrs .. Man could he make that Fender cry.

I got into music at an young age pretty much started out on drums the same way everybody else did. I would play on my mom's canisters with her wooden spoons till she couldn't take replacing them anymore so my dad MADE me my FIRST set of drums...lol, man I wish I had a Picture to post up let's just say the Toms were coffee cans, the bass was a 55 Gal. drum that he cut in Half, he went out and bought a snare and a few cymbals along with a high-hat from the toy store not to forget my pedal was homemade with a Tennis Ball on Top lol Worked like a Charm till they broke then for Christmas I got a real pair.

I played for some years then I just stopped playing guess drumming wasn't my thing wish I would of never stopped though.

When I was 6yrs. old My Dad Started Djing went By The Name "The Rocking Red Horse" Red Horse was his nickname in High School if you are wondering how that came about. I would help him load and unload and when he would play I would tell him "go dance with mom" and I would take over I was too small to see over the equipment but tall enough to put cds in the players and turn up the volume lol my taste in music was pretty damn good for being that young I always had the crowd going.

People would always ask my Dad "who you got back there playing for you" I would just play what sounded Danceable I don't really understand Spanish so I couldn't go by what the song was saying.

I also picked up the Accordion Still don't really know much but I like to mess around on it when I get a chance, I had a Black Gabbanelli 101 but after seeing my homeboy Johnny Cruz's Box I got a Hohner cuz, me loving Tejano and Conjunto Music that's wut Most of them Play on.

As I got a little older I started doing the Shows myself my dad would help set up and I would play the whole 5/6 hrs djing for wedding, Quinces, Grads, and so on.. My mom used to throw Christmas parties every year she would have about 4 to 5 hundred ppl show up so I was djing for a pretty good size crowed at an young age.

The age was 19 when I first got into mixing music (I'm 23 now) my homie Poco Loco got me into it after hearing sum of his mixes asked um a few questions he made me a few drops and I started doing my thing I love to mix music I'm still learning so I'm not as good as "I Myself" would like to be guess I'm too picky, but like I was told you can never stop learning.

My Good Friend/Almost Like a Brother Mike Garza gave me the Name "Jammin' Jake" we were riding around one day Jammin 99.7fm Tejano Culture Radio I think Lobo was doing a show, when my homeboy goes " man foo that would be cool if me and u could be on the radio I don't know much about music but I could mc and u could play the music we would Be "Big Mike G." & "Jammin' Jake" in the mix" I laughed and said "ya that would be baddass huh?" so the name stuck and years later my Wish of being with a Radio is Finally here Thanks to My Boy Lobo who I 1st met in the 99.7fm days who I would call and bug Ha!..
